This apartment was designed for a couple who returned to the city from a nearby suburb after the last of their children left for college. We have known and worked with these clients for nearly twenty years, and sought to bring the warmth of their previous home, and a summer home which we designed, into a rather bland postwar apartment blessed with spectacular views of Central Park. We added simply detailed oak paneling to several of the rooms, and oak plank flooring and limed oak mouldings throughout. At the center of the plan is a gallery finished in oak and leather. Custom furnishings designed by us complement vintage pieces from the 1960s, the era in which the building was built.
