RAMSA (Robert A.M. Stern Architects) is a multidisciplinary global architecture firm based in New York City. Founded in 1969, our research-driven practice engages with place, history, and culture through design.
Robert Stern established the firm as a departure from modernist conventions of the 1960’s, opting for an approach that looked to the future while incorporating architectural history and the complexities of place as a dynamic and essential foundation for design.
This approach paved the way for a design philosophy that values the scholarly understanding of architectural languages. From historic to contemporary, the judicious use and combination of these traditions can bridge the gap between the past and present in the same way that memory and culture create a continuity between yesterday and today. Similarly, we navigate global contexts knowing that a singular style or language cannot adequately address the rich diversity of places and their unique cultural identities.
Looking ahead, RAMSA is well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of our world. Our greatest strength lies in our curiosity, creativity, our demand for excellence, and in the exceptional talent and diversity of our staff.
Robert A.M. Stern Architects is always looking for talented and experienced registered architects, architectural designers, interior designers, and landscape designers. We are a design-oriented firm with a broad range of projects including residential, institutional, commercial, and planning.
